Ask for the Jones / Dilworth wedding rate at AmericInn of Spencer (712-262-7525). This motel is the newest, nicest place to stay in Spencer, which is between the farm and the wedding. It has an indoor pool and jacuzzi and includes free breakfast in the morning. When Liz worked there, breakfast included donuts, yogurt, bagels, fruit, cereal, and toast w/ peanut butter or jam. It’s generally cheaper than staying in the Lakes area and it’s small–46 rooms. (In other words, reserve now!)

AmericInn is the official wedding lodging, but here are some unofficial (i.e., no discount) options:

If you are a camper, you can stay in Gull Point State Park itself. You can make reservations starting 3 months in advance (so, starting May 17.) After following this link, click on “Search by Park” and select “Gull Point State Park.” (If nothing is available there, Emerson Bay State Park is nearby.) It costs $11-$16 / night. You must reserve Friday and Saturday night during the peak season.

Crescent Beach Resort is very close to the wedding and one of the nicest places to stay at the lakes. Josh and Liz are staying there over the wedding weekend. Rooms vary from $150 / night for a queen bed and bathroom to $440 / night for a suite that sleeps eight people and has two bathrooms and a kitchen. There may be a minimum of a three-night stay. The Arrowwood Resort is a hotel around the lake from the wedding site–about a ten minute drive. Here is their website. This hotel has been around a long, long time but has been very recently remodeled. No free breakfast here, but they have an on-site restaurant, Minerva’s. It is also adjacent to a golf course.

If you’re looking for the cheapest motels available, try the Super 8 (712-262-8500). It has a limited free breakfast and rates between $60-$90 per night.
